Spring Hill/Highland Ave Community Meeting

Tomorrow night, the city will host a meeting about the ongoing

. If you live anywhere nearby, you've noticed the sewer work — but you might not know that this project will involve major reworking of Highland Ave, including green infrastructure and street safety improvements. One of our neighbors was recently struck and seriously injured while riding their bicycle on Highland Ave, underscoring how important this project is. However, some people are organizing in opposition because they fear that it might be more inconvenient to park.

  AHMA Housing Discussion & Social Meetup

Somerville YIMBY Steering Committee member Jeff Byrnes will be speaking on a panel at an event hosted by Abundant Housing MA and Dorchester Growing Together at 2 pm on April 29th at First Parish Dorchester. In addition to hearing from leaders of local pro-housing groups, we'll learn about the permitting, construction, and development process from experts in the field. The discussions will be followed by a social get-together at The Blarney Stone. Childcare will be available.

Other Upcoming City Meetings

  • April 11, 6:00 pm, online: Artist and neuroscientist Joshua Sariñana joins the Somerville Arts Council to discuss the arts community in the city.

  • April 19, 6:00 pm, online: Zoning Board of Appeals. Agenda includes a proposal for a hotel at 1 McGrath Highway, currently a vacant carwash.

  • April 20, 6:00 pm, online: Planning Board. Agenda includes the same hotel.

  • April 25, 6:30 pm, Somerville High School cafeteria: Ward 3 community meeting with the mayor and city councilors. Refreshments, conversation, etc. Each ward has these meetings twice a year. Drop by and chat with city officials about housing and other priorities!
