New MBTA Community Housing Law: A Conversation With AHMA

Dear YIMBY Friends,

The Massachusetts legislature recently passed a law requiring that communities with MBTA service

without any special permits. Cities that don't change their zoning rules correspondingly won't qualify for MassWorks and other state infrastructure funding. The exact amount of housing that each municipality must allow varies depending on its size and the MBTA service level.

Now that the law has passed, state and local agencies need to figure out how to implement it, and

Abundant Housing MA (AHMA) will be hosting a meeting on March 9 to talk about these new regulations and how people can use this opportunity to advocate for the best possible outcomes in our communities and the region as a whole. Somerville YIMBY member and Boston Indicators Director Luc Schuster will lead the discussion with AHMA Executive Director Jesse Kanson-Benanav.
