Rendering of 152–158 Broadway proposal

Call To Action!

This Thursday, Feb. 18, at 6pm, a proposal for 45 apartments with zero parking on-site is being heard by the Planning Board. As this proposal lies slightly outside of our zoning’s Transit Area definition, it will require a variance to move forward without any parking.

We’re supportive of this proposal because it adds much-needed small apartments (think: students, young professionals, couples) which helps free up larger apartments. And, without parking, it will discourage car ownership, making it more sustainable, since its residents will not have access to on-site or street parking.

Somerville Alliance for Safe Streets

A group of our fellow Somervillians have gotten together as Somerville Alliance for Safe Streets (SASS) and wrote a letter of declaration, submitted to the City Council on Feb. 11, to petition the city to follow through on its goals for safer, people-first streets.

We agree wholeheartedly with their declaration, and some of our members have already co-signed this declaration. You can express support via this form.

They’re hosting a summit on Feb. 28, 4–5pm, and you may email [email protected] with any questions.
