See You On Highland

Hello friends,

The Highland Avenue Redesign Project community meeting is

tonight on Zoom at 6:30 pm,

and we need your help. This is a major project with real potential to make major improvements to a key route through the city, and we need you there to support it.

In particular, the city is weighing options that could improve bike and pedestrian safety, and improve transit access, along huge portions of the currently traffic-choked street. Those are great improvements, but they will require taking out some parking, and some folks are going to be very vocally angry about it. In Prospect Hill, opponents of change have been putting flyers on car windshields with headlines like PRESERVE HIGHLAND AVE.

We absolutely cannot preserve the dangerous and environmentally unfriendly status quo of Highland Ave.

Please show the city that citizens support transit, bike and pedestrian access on Highland by

attending the meeting tonight on Zoom

and speaking up for bike lanes, bus access, and reduced car dependency for the future of Somerville.
