You may already have seen the profoundly upsetting news that

Stephen Conley was killed this weekend while riding his bike near Powderhouse Square

. He was in a bike lane, but that lane was unprotected and located in the "door zone" beside a row of parked cars. When someone opened a door directly into his path, he collided with it, and died of his injuries the next day.

This tragedy could have been prevented, and it's time for the city to take action to make sure it doesn't happen again.
