Help AHMA Influence the Statehouse
Somerville YIMBY is a member of Abundant Housing Massachusetts, a statewide coalition that stands up for abundant housing for all, everywhere in Massachusetts. AHMA is conducting a letter-writing campaign now through February 2 in support of their pro-housing legislative agenda. While Rep. Mike Connolly has signed onto one key bill, Rep. Erika Uyterhoeven, Rep. Christine Barber, and Sen. Pat Jehlen have not. In particular, because Sen. Jehlen is Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee on Housing, her vote will be critically important to the success of this bill. Click here for details & suggested language!
Pearl Street
Pearl Street is due for a full rebuild after extensive utility work, and since it goes right past the East Somerville Community School, safety is a top priority. The city's plans are pretty good, but we and our friends at the Somerville Alliance for Safe Streets are concerned that they keep an excessive number of parking spaces, running counter to the SomerVision 2040 goals of reducing car dependency.
