Highland Ave Redesign Notes

Several of our members attended Wednesday's kickoff meeting for the Highland Avenue Redesign plan, and it was mostly productive although somewhat contentious. The process will continue over the next year or two, with construction scheduled to start some time in 2023.

City Survey on Parking & Curb Use

Key Meetings

  • November 22 (tonight!): Gilman Square Neighborhood Plan City staff will provide an update on present and future projects in Gilman Square, present the feasibility study for an accessible path from Marshall Street to the Medford Street Bridge and Community Path extension, discuss options for protected bicycle lanes on Medford Street and Pearl Street from the School Street to the Skilton Ave intersections, and gather public feedback.

  • November 22: Land Use Commmitee Ongoing discussion of the Broadway Star Market site and Boynton Yards parking issues.

  • November 30: 21-23 Francesca Avenue A proposal to convert a 2-family to a single, then add a backyard cottage. A small neighborhood meeting, but emblematic of the problems with our current Accessory Dwelling Unit rules.

  • December 13: 90 Washington St (Public Safety Building) The much-delayed Public Safety Building meeting.
