We had a great Saturday at the Union Square Farmer’s Market this past weekend, telling people about our group and what we’re trying to accomplish in Somerville and the region. And we’ve got more than a few new members on our mailing list. Welcome!

Here are a few things we think you’d like to know about:

Events

This Sunday, June 9:

The Somerville Homeless Coalition will be having its

, a fundraiser that helps prevent homelessness. The money raised here helps people avoid eviction and stabilize their housing situations. Supporting groups like SHC is a way we can help people in need now, while we also work toward longer-term zoning and housing policy goals. Starting at City Hall, 93 Highland Ave, Somerville. Registration at 1:30 PM, walk starts at 2:00.

Tuesday, June 11:

? Architects, business leaders, nonprofits, and developers are featured in this panel discussion about the future of Boston and the region. Expect a more business-focused angle on issues. 6:00 PM at the U Mass Club, One Beacon Street, Boston.

Thursday, June 13:

Artists forum for SomerVision 2040. Local artists are

and where they'd like to see Somerville's arts scene in 20 years. 6:00 PM at the VNA Community Room, 259 Lowell Street, Somerville.

Saturday, June 15:

Drop by the

, support local businesses and artisans, and meet some neighbors. It's not specifically a YIMBY thing, but it's the sort of thing that's made possible when people live in a place like Somerville, and it's one of the reasons we want to welcome more people to our city. 5:00-10:00 PM, Ball Square.

Wednesday, June 19:

A discussion on the future of 299 Broadway in Somerville, the long-vacant Star Market site. At 6:00 PM at the

. This site has been in litigation for years, but it's also a huge lot with a ton of potential.
