A Very YIMBY September
Let’s get moving
It’s been a great summer for the pro-housing movement. The biggest news, nationally, comes from the Democratic National Convention, where numerous speakers highlighted the housing shortage and ways to address it. Commentators from Bloomberg to Politico to Matt Yglesias to Mother Jones hailed the updated messaging as a turning point and an opportunity to make real progress over the next few years. We’re thrilled to hear about this national enthusiasm for housing action!

Ward 2 Councilor JT Scott hosts a community meeting to discuss neighborhood concerns before the applicants begin their required special permit application process. 6:00–7:30 pm, online and in-person at PRB Boulangerie, 118 Beacon Street. (Why does Somerville require community meetings and special permits to open a vet office? Good question!)
Fall 2024 Ward Meetings: Somerville officials will host in-person meet & greets in different parts of the city from September 18–October 21. Find yours today and take the opportunity to chat with your city councilors and the mayor about what matters to you.
